WHOA E16: Speed and Revolutions

This week on WHOA: A Most EXCELLENT Keanu Reeves podcast we watched “Speed” from 1994. And “The Matrix: Revolutions” from 2003.  It’s the episode with bombs, squidees, gold watches, infinite Hugo Weavings, vengeful Dennis Hoppers, elevators and lots and lots and lots of bullet time!

Spoiler Alert

We are discussing the movies in their entirety. So if you want to know whether Jack and Annie get off the bus that couldn’t slow down, or if Neo and Trinity get out of the Matrix before we spoil it for you here, you should probably watch the movies ahead of time… HURRY!

Episode 16 Features

“Speed” from 1994. Keanu is in top form as Jack Traven, a fearless LAPD Bomb Squad officer who angers a mad bomber, Dennis Hopper, by shooting his partner, Jeff Daniels, in the leg. The bomber gets revenge by planting a bomb on a bus, enciting an LA high speed car chase that ends up with busses defying gravity and every mode of transportation you can think of defying every law of physics you ever learned…. and Sandra Bullock is in it! I can not recommend this movie with enough gusto. If you have never seen it, check it out on Amazon HERE. If you’ve seen it a million times, why not make it a million and one with this Speed & Speed 2:Cruise Control Blu-Ray…. just throw the Speed 2: Cruise Control disc away!

Check out the MythBusters and their science facts about the bus moving passengers to execute a turn HERE  and the science facts about jumping buses HERE.

In Episode 16 we also cover…

“The Matrix Revolutions” from 2003. Keanu is in top form again as Neo, a fearless Matrix super hero who angered a Matrix Agent Smith, Hugo Weaving… two movies ago. The Agents get their revenge by seeking out and invading the human city Zion and incorporating a plethora of new characters with confusing names like the Marovingian, Seraph, Deus Ex Machina, the Trainman, and Coat Check Girl. My actual recommendation is to just watch the Matrix and pretend that it’s a stand alone movie. However, if you are a completist, you can finish up the trilogy on Amazon HERE. And, for the REAL completist, try the Animatrix to bridge the gap between movies and then the Matrix Online for even more of the story.

Whats Up Next?

Coming up next on WHOA look for a Very Keanu New Year episode comin at ya on January 11th, in which we will discuss what we have learned about our hero so far.

Your bonus Keanu for the day! This is wonderful. It is more of Keanu Reeves tactical weapons training to prepare for John Wick 2. I love this man. It is so impressive and amazing how much he is willing to do. Enjoy!

I was just watched Speed last night & it got me thinking when did we establish that Annie could tie a knot? Did she minor in knots at Uni I don’t remember her saying she was a girl guide/scout. I equally don’t remember Jack telling her how he wanted the knot tied…
