Co-owners & Executive Producers
Alice is one of the co-founders and co-owners of Educating [Geeks]. With her partner Megan, she oversees all aspects of content and business operations including the production of weekly podcasts and written content. She is also a regular geek host . Alice has had many careers. She has 15 years of experience in the Clinical Trials Industry managing data, people and operations. Before that, she worked for online magazines Slate and OnHealth News in a variety of roles from production coordinator to project manager. She also worked professionally in theatre as a costumer working on productions such as As You Like It for the Great Lakes Theater Festival and Cosi Fan Tutte for Florida State University. She also enjoys filling her free time with the creative arts by volunteering on film sets, creating costumes, and serving on non-profit boards.
Megan Calcote is a co-founder and co-owner of Educating [Geeks]. Along with Alice, she oversees all operations of the company taking a heavy hand in producing YouTube videos and podcast episodes and she is a regular podcast host. Megan has seven years of experience at Arizona State University as an event planner and administrative staff member, and three years of experience as an independent film producer in the Phoenix area. She holds her bachelor’s degree in English and Creative Writing from the University of Arizona. Born in Tucson, Megan lived all over the globe with her sister, mother and father who was an active duty officer in the United States Airforce. She enjoys spending her spare time at home with her family and cooking.
Bri Valdivia is an associate producer and investor in Educating [Geeks]. She studied Broadcast Journalism at the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication where she hosted and produced various news shows for The Blaze 1330 AM. She also served as News Director for two years and Station Manager her senior year. Upon graduating Bri served as producer of KJZZ’s Here and Now for two years. She occasionally appears as a guest host on the podcasts FilmLife and BeerLife. Bri is the executive producer for the All The [Trek], and is a regular geek host.
Andrea Coffman is the Associate Producer for Operations for Educating [Geeks] and a regular geek host . Andrea is currently a Fraud and Anti-Money Laundering Analyst for a large financial institution. She has worked in the financial industry for over a decade. She has worked with several non-profit institutions in the past, including founding and applying for non-profit status. In her spare time, Andrea likes to travel with her husband and eat anything and everything.
Huan is the newly-recruited copy editor of Educating [Geeks]. He copy edits the written content that goes up on the WordPress blog. He’s a graduate from Cronkite School with a degree in print and online. He has a knack for learning languages, so besides being fluent in Vietnamese and English, he is learning Korean and German. When he doesn’t act like a grammar Nazi, he listens to K-Pop, watches anime, plays video games, and plays with his cats Sumi and Yuki.
New to Educating [Geeks], and new to assisting with production, Diana Petersel, is a leaf on the wind, a transplant to the valley as of ’95. Originally from Queens, NY, she grew up with an educationally and artistically competitive surrounding, with a passion for classical piano, books and video games. She’s a graduate of Hotel & Restaurant Management from NAU and has 11 years of Hospitality experience. She currently works as a Technical Analyst for one of the largest hotel chains in the world. In her spare time, she thoroughly enjoys her role as a volunteer Usher, playing video games, spending time with her 2 precious smarty-cats, and continually working on her production skills for E[G].
