On this episode of Educating [Geeks] Bri, Krissy and Megan talk about A Game of Thrones, the first book in the Song of Ice and Fire series by George R.R. Martin. Good news – it’s 70% less rapey than the TV show! Or is it 60% less? Regardless, the ladies love the books and the TV show so enjoy their robust debate about Sansa Stark along with their many frustrations with the Stark family. And since they’re all giant Game of Thrones fans, they can’t help but discuss spoilers from the end of season six of the TV show.
The geek hosts were joined by guest host Tanya Gouchenour to discuss François Truffaut’s film Fahrenheit 451 which is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. The group discuss Montag’s character development, Julie Christie’s dual role, the role of reading in empathy, what books they would memorize and, yes, they make a “that’s what he said” joke.
On this episode of Educating [Geeks] Alice and Andrea get an education on the Showtime original series Penny Dreadful from Bri and Megan. Everyone talks about their favorite characters, Drea has an unpopular opinion on her least favorite character and Bri and Megan have a hard time sticking to the first two seasons. This episode was recorded live at Phoenix Comicon 2016.
